Syrah
This grape is popular for it's rich tannins and complex full bodied flavor.
Syrah is an extremely vigorous grape, ripens early, and easily adapts to various forms of winemaking.
Known as Shiraz to many wine aficionados, mainly in Australia, this grape's early planting origins were first noted in France around 6 A.D. by the Greeks, however, many wine historians argue that Syrah dates back to 1 A.D. in ancient Persia.
Whatever the true origins of Syrah, you will find that Rusty Grape Vineyard continues the tradition of fine organic grapes, harvested from some of the best soil the Northwest has to offer.
Pinot Noir
The Northwest is recognized as having the finest fields in North America for growing the Pinot Noir variety of grapes.
This grape's origins are rooted within the wine rich country of France and is known to be one of the oldest known varieties of wine on the planet. Washington State is famous for it's uncanny likeness to the varieties produced by it's ancient French predecessors. Vineyards of the Northwest are able to let the vine grow further into harvest season, allowing the grape to develop more fully, producing it's complex flavor and amazingly rich full flavor.
Pinot Gris
Washington is one of the few places in the world where the Pinot Grape flourishes. The success of this grape in the Northwest is a result of the warm temperate Summer climate and mildly cool autumn weather.
'Gris' is the French word for gray, however, these grapes can widely range in color, depending on the affecting climate of the season.
Likewise, Pinot Gris can be both sweet and tangy or incredibly full bodied and complex in flavor.
Many purveyors of this extremely popular prefer Pinot Gris because of it's citrus tang and light taste.
