Rusty Grape Vineyard 2007 Merlot NEW RELEASE $15.00

The earliest recorded mention of Merlot was in the notes of a local Bordeaux official who in 1784 labeled wine made from the grape in the Libournais region as one of the area's best. The name comes from the French regional patois word "merlot", which means "young blackbird" ("merle" is the French word for several kinds of thrushes, including blackbirds); the naming came either because of the grape's beautiful dark-blue color, or due to blackbirds' fondness for grapes. By the 19th century it was being regularly planted in the Médoc on the "Left Bank" of the Gironde. Merlot grapes are identified by their loose bunches of large berries. The color has less of a blue/black hue than Cabernet Sauvignon grapes and with a thinner skin, the grapes also have fewer tannins. Also compared to Cabernet, a Merlot grape tends to have higher sugar content and lower malic acid. Our Merlot is Full bodied fruit foward red hints of cinnamon, nutmeg and black current. Pairs well with almost any dish. except fish. Although rules can be broken..

The history of Pinot Noir also shows us that Pinot Noir Grapes were being cultivated in the Burgundy region of France when the Romans invaded Gaul in the first century A.D. This history of Pinot Noir in America dates back to the 1930s on the coast of California and the Napa valley (see also Napa Merlot). Pinot Noir wines main use up until the 1980s was for making sparkling wines. A great Pinot Noir wine will create a lasting impression on the palate and its aroma can be intense, ripe grape. It is typically a rich, but not too heavy. Rusty Grape Vineyard 2006 Cabernet Sauvigonon NEW RELEASE! $26.00

Cabernet Sauvignon has a well defined aroma. In Old World wines, particularly those made in Bordeaux, this is characterised by a smell of violets, blackcurrant, cedar and spice. New World wines of this grape can often share the aromas of their Old World counterparts, but are more often dominated by aromas of chocolate, ripe jammy berries, oak, pepper and earth. In Australia, there is often a strong smell of eucalyptus, particularly in wines made in Coonawarra. One of the most characteristic aromas of warm-climate examples is cassis (blackcurrant), while cherry and other red berry notes are not uncommon. Cooler-climate examples often reveal greener, herbaceous notes, such as eucalyptus or green pepper/capsicum. There is, however, a great deal of variation in flavor depending on the region, winemaking technique, seasonal weather, and bottle age. Nonetheless the wines retain a remarkable ability to be recognizably Cabernet. Our Cabernet fruit foward wine with notes of cherries, vanilla and chocolate.

Rusty Grape Vineyard 2007 Syrah NEW RELEASE! $18.00

Syrah, also known as Shiraz in Australia, is the noble red grape of the northern Rhone Valley. Syrah is quite vigorous and thrives when given warm days, poor soils, and sun. The Syrah grape itself is thick-skinned and dark, almost black. Its wines are intense with a dark purple-black color. The wines taste of blackberry and currant fruit, smoke, tar and black pepper, and have a smooth supple texture. Syrah reflects minerality well, and the chalky character of the tannins provides a wonderful backbone to softer, fruitier varietals such as Grenache and Counoise. In our blends, Syrah provides structure, a deep blackish-purple color, minerality, and longevity. Our Syrah is fruit foward red with aromas of dark berries and spice. With a mild pepper finish. Pairs well with chicken, red meat, lamb, pork, chocolate, or select cheese.

Rusty Grape Vineyard 2006 Orange Muscat COMING SOON!!! $19.00

The Muscat grape is the world's oldest known grape variety. It probably originated in Greece but maybe the independent sultanate of Muscat in the south-east of the Arabian Peninsula had something to do with it. No doubt a Roman soldier or Phoenician trader brought it through Italy into Roman France. Early records show it shipped from the port of Frontignan in SW France during Charlemagne's reign. Muscat is the only grape to produce wine with the same aroma as the grape itself. Sweet fortified Muscats have a classic rich, nose of dried fruits, raisins and oranges. This strong perfume prompted the Roman author Pliny, in his "Natural History," to declare it "the grape of the bees." The French noted the grape's musky character and called it "Musqué," Our Orange Muscat is delicate with hints of peach, apricot and honey. A perfect dessert
